Week 15: It has come to an end

Welcome back for the last time of Spring 2026     This morning was the internship showcase! getting to see how hard everyone worked is always the most rewarding part of the semester. We have stressed, overly perfected and reflected on our time here and for me, I am always reminded about how truly grateful I am that this program exists and how it has allowed me to grow as a human and as a professional. I got the chance to work alongside my team one last time to get our slides organized and help them go over pointers for their slides. I hope one day before I graduate, that I will be able to return at least as a volunteer to team VHP. The work i've done has pushed me to be a better person and it makes me happy to know that or at least hope that the work i've done has left a lasting impression. This semester has been the most difficult for me balancing classes and person life made it hard for me to really manage my work. There is definitely a lesson to be learned from this s...

Week 14: Planning for Story Day 2026 and Internship Showcase!

Welcome Back! Since last week I have been done with my work, and truthfully have been prioritizing my other coursework because of it. This is when I find things to be a little difficult being a team lead. There is no one to tell you what to do when you've finished your work, and i've been busy keeping tabs and reviewing the folders the rest of the team has worked on. With the semester ending soon and our last events around the corner I am doing my final tasks like preparing a flash drive for a veteran coming to pick up his files from his interview before it moves into the final phase of closed captioning and ultimately archival with UCF and the Library of Congress. My next steps are getting together with the team to go over our plans for the internship showcase and then rehearsing out powerpoint to make sure the timing is correct. I am very grateful to have been given another opportunity to join this amazing team of interns. And I can't wait to see where i will be in the n...

Week 13: Story Day Plans and Showcase Planning

Welcome back!      This Wednesday has been quite productive. During the meeting today we were able to flesh out the semifinal plans for the VHP Story Day that will be taking place on the 18th of April at the Beardall Senior Center. I have also completed my plans for manning the scanning station for the event. While actually being able to archive transcripts and other documents is important the most important step in the process is making sure that you actually have full access to the documents obtained during the oral interview process.  My hope is that future organization and transcription efforts will be made easier and more streamline so that we can hope to achieve more archived folders over the course of these short semesters. Sometime before story day I will be meeting with the team to talk about our plans for the showcase. Our team is quite small with only three members but i'm hoping this allows the others to talk about what has been fulfilling for them ...

Week 12: Sending out Files and Story Day 2026!

Welcome back everyone! This week's meeting covered everyones updates. At this point in time I have been working with my fellow interns on their folders and providing  guidance where I have been able to. So far we are still waiting to send out the batch for my completed veteran folder. We will be physically handing him a copy at the Story Day coming up on the 18th of April. As for future work I will be starting on organization of another folder before the semester comes to an end. Once story day comes around I will be taking charge on the scanning station to ensure that folder are set up for next semesters team. One of the biggest struggles of this semester has been not being able to find documents. Especially when there are so many hands working  on similar documents. I am hoping that by working on organization during the event, before anymore work is done it will minimize mistakes or the likelihood of items being misplaced.  Until Next Time!
